I got up early today and went to the BYU invitational to watch Alex run. He is doing an excellent job. He came in 66th of all the freshman and sophomores. Not quit sure how many runners total, but there were a lot. he had a time of 20:07. That makes it a 6:28 Min/Mi. He has been working really hard. I think he will be a great runner. This is his first year of Xcountry. I think if he keeps working this hard he will go far.

School starts next week. Alisa starts on Monday and the other kids start on Thursday. Alex has been doing cross country practices for over a month and has been doing quit a good job. Alisa and Alex will be going to two different high schools. Alisa is continuing at Rockwell Charter High School and Alex is going to West Lake High School. I think it's just a ploy to keep me running the whole school year.

Katherine starts 6th grade and Emma will be in 2nd grade. They are just dying to find out who their teacher will be. They find out on Monday.

Gaylen is working days again and likes it a lot better. We wish he could stay on days all the time.

Life is giving us challenges and we are working hard to stay possitive. A friend of mine wrote on her face book page that she just wanted to give up. I reminded her that its the strong that keep going. And we were strong women. The hard part is going through the trials to find out just how strong we really are!

Okay, I love to make cards! Wondering if they are good enough to sell? And also how to go about selling them or marketing them? If anyone has ideas let me know. Sorry this one is upside down. Still trying to figure out this phone thing.

Okay this was me at the family reunion. I tried to post pics. of my kids at our reunion but for some reason it won't let me this time. Something to do with my windows program. So here's too our family reunion and Dt. Dr. Pepper!
Well, the summer is fast coming to a close, and school will be starting in a bout 3 weeks. Alisa will be going to Rockwell Charter High. She started in the drama club last year and did really well last year. I hope she will keep up the great work! This is where she went last year and where I subed. It is small but she likes the class sizes. Alex will be going to the new public high school West Lake. He enjoys the music program that the alpine school district offers. He will also be running in cross country. He has really made a commitment to running and is doing a wonderful job. This will be the last year Katherine will be in grade school. I can't believe how big she is getting! Let's hope she continues to do better at her staying on task. Emma is no longer in first grade. She is a big second grader. And you can't tell her any different, she is a big girl. She is also my social bug. She always wants to have all her friends around her.

Gaylen continues to work hard to keep our family afloat. I'm thinking of going back to school. I would like to find some kind of grant to help with the cost. If not that plan might have to wait.

This is a video of Alisa in her play. Its a little shaky because I was holding my little camera myself. I hope this works!

These are pictures of Alisa after her play. She played Andrea for the Play "Once on this Island"
It was really good and she did an awsome job of playing the rich snoty girl.
Almost too well, it was a little scary coming from my sweet girl. :)

Summer Daze

Summer is here and we are trying to keep the kids busy. So far its been a success but it is only the end of June and I'm running out of ideas. For July we are going camping at Hyce hot springs for our family reunion. Should be lots of fun. I hope to get some good pictures of the kids and my family. I just have to remember my camera. It would be even better if Gaylen could come with us. But he has to save his top time for his military duty. It kind of stincks.

End of July first of Aug. we get to visit boise and all of our friends there. We are very excited to see friends again. The kids are making all kinds of plans. I hope they have a lot of fun!

The couple of weeks before Easter, I kept really busy trying too get dresses sewn for the two little girls and trying to shop for everyone else. I had a time trying to figure out the dresses I was making, but after much strugle and picking out a lot of seems, I finally got them done. I don't know how late I stayed up those last couple of nights, but I finished my mission!

I know the date is wrong but I promise it was taken on Easter.

These are some of the views as Gaylen and I went for walk up the street from our house. There is a trail up the mountain and the veiw is amazing! The beauty we have been blessed with makes me so happy! When I am having a bad day and get down on myself I look at the beauty of the world and thank my Father in Heaven for all he has given me!

Katherine turned 11. My birthday was in the middle of April. We have been partying all month. :)

I haven't been keeping up on my blog very well, I've been taking up my time on facebook. It's fun check it out.

Alisa turned 16 last month. She's gotten her permit and has to bank up 30-60 hours of driving and take drivers ed. to get full license. I've been trying not to stress out too much when she is behind to wheel. Its kind of funny Gaylen is worse about that than me.

No new pics., but I want to keep you up too date.

Gaylen got released from being a primary teacher today. I would have liked to have been released with him, but not such luck. He is still working at IMFlash and since they have announced more layoffs in Boise, we are realizing even more than ever of how very blessed we are.

I'm busy working on Easter dresses for my two youngest daughters. Alisa wants a Easter dress but doesn't really want one with smocking and embroidery. I have too start to work a little faster or they will never get done. I don't know why much longer that the other two will want hand made dresses. I will sew for them as long as I can. Or as long as they will wear the clothes.

All the kids are doing well in school. Emma has too memorize a couple of short poems. We passed one off and has one more to go.

Katherine is doing much better with staying on task, and getting homework turned in. She is so smart, but has had a problem finishing.

Alex is really enjoying the middle school and the music program they have to offer. He has joined the jazz band which gives him a bigger challenge than just the regular band does.

Alisa just got done with her play she was in "Fortress". She has tried out for a musical and got a part with a solo. The play is "Once on This Island". The play is in May. The practices will be long but I think I can get along without her for at least a little while.

All in all we are staying busy and trying to keep out of trouble.

Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Okay, I'm still alive! Barely. :0 This has been a real challenging couple of months. Alex went back to Public school and likes it so much better for the most part. They have a much better music program. If I can just get him through his teenage years. He has a few problems that he has to work out.

Alisa has her learners permit and is driving a little. Now I have to get her inrolled in drivers ed. At the moment they don't have that program running at the Charter school that she is attending. She is leaving on a trip the Vegas with the School English and Drama dept. They get to go see "The Phantom of the Opera" I'm just a little jeleous. She should be back on Sat.

Katherine is continuing to do well in the 5th grade. She keeps wanting me to help her make cinnamon rolls. I just need to stop whatever I'm doing at the time and spend some time with her and teach her.

Emma really keeps me busy. She is such the social bug and always wants to play at a friends house or have them over here. It's tuff to keep up with her.

Gaylen stays busy at work and spending time with us when not at work.

As for myself, I just try to keep my sanity. trying to keep up with my kids is a full time job. I don't know how my mom ever did it and work full time to support her family. I'm sure she had many blessing from the Lord.
